Main goal: build an active community network that brings together families, specialists, institutions, volunteers and everyone who believes in the rights of autistic people and supports their families.

• Attract volunteers and expertise to take part in campaign initiatives.
• Involve families and specialists in community activities and programmes.
• Build partnerships with government, private and community institutions.
• Support events, programmes and initiatives across all the Emirates.
• Turn community empathy into real participation and lasting impact.

Nominate a SMILE ambassador

Main goal: discover talented autistic people and empower them to share their voices, creativity and success stories with the community.

• Discover talents in art, drawing, music, sport, writing, public speaking, innovation, photography and more.
• Highlight the abilities and achievements of autistic people beyond stereotypes.
• Provide real platforms to showcase their talents and take part in events.
• Empower ambassadors to express their experiences and messages themselves.
• Build inspiring role models that bring confidence and hope to autistic people and their families.
• Nominate ambassadors for the SMILE campaign, the Global Autism Summit and community events.
• Open training, development and collaboration opportunities suited to each ambassador’s talent.

SMILE Autism Self-Advocacy Card

بطاقة «ابتسم» للمناصرة الذاتية للتوحّد

Main goal: enable autistic people to introduce themselves, their needs, their preferences and the ways of communicating that suit them, protecting their independence, dignity and right to choose.

• Support the cardholder in expressing their needs in the way that suits them best.
• Make communication easier in schools, hospitals, airports, workplaces and public places.
• Explain sensory and communication preferences and the right forms of support.
• Help people around them respond with respect and awareness, without assuming or deciding on their behalf.
• Provide essential contact information safely, with the consent of the cardholder or their family.
• Reduce misunderstandings and stressful situations, especially in crowded places or emergencies.
• Strengthen the right of autistic people to take part, choose and make the decisions that concern them.
• Support their inclusion, independence and full participation in society.
